The purpose of this post is to give you a general idea of what to expect at your regional KupoCon event. All the information provided in this topic is subject to change without warning.

What is Triple Triad?
Triple Triad (トリプルトライアード, Toripuru Toraiādo?) is a popular card game in the world of Final Fantasy VIII available as a minigame. Conceived by battle system designer Hiroyuki Ito.

How do you play?
Triple Triad is played on a three-by-three (3x3) square grid of blank spaces where the cards will be placed. Each card has four numbers (known as ranks) placed in top right corner; each number corresponds to one of the four sides of the card. The ranks range from one to nine, the letter A representing ten. The top left of the card sometimes has medal representing rarity.

In a basic game each player has five cards. A coin-flip decides who begins. The player who wins the coin toss may choose a card to play anywhere on the grid. After the first card is played, the opponent may play a card on any unoccupied space on the board. The game continues with players' turns alternating.

How do you win?
To win, a majority of the total ten cards played (including the one card that is not placed on the board) must be of the player's card color. To do this, the player must capture cards by placing a card adjacent to an opponent's card whereupon the ranks of the sides where the two cards touch will be compared. If the rank of the opponent's card is higher than the player's card, the player's card will be captured and turned into the opponent's color. If the player's rank is higher, the opponent's card will be captured and changed into the player's color instead. Capturing can only occur during that player's turn, and no other opponent can capture a card during said turn.

A draw occurs if the player and the opponent possess equal numbers of cards in their color on the board. Depending on alternate card rules, this can be defined by a sudden death scenario where the first person to capture a card in a new game wins, or by playing until a winner is defined.

How can I obtain the Triple Triad cards?
There will be 50 cards in total to collect. These are categorized into three groups. They are then sub categorized by rarity.

The first group is Entry which consists of 25 cards. These cards are obtained by simply attending KupoCon using a Cactuar, Blizzara, Thundaga, Anima or Ultima ticket.

The second group is Activity which consists of 20 cards. These cards can be obtained by taking part in various activities at the event. Most of the steps required to obtain them will be outlined in your event program. Several cards will require a little more brainpower and intuition.

The third and final group is Premium which consists of 5 cards. These are given to Anima and Ultima ticket holders. These are not obtainable in any other way. If you don't have a premium ticket, you can still collect 45 cards at the event.

Will I receive all 'Entry' cards on arrival?
No. You will a number of duplicates which will require you to trade with other attendees. Certain entry cards will be harder to obtain than others which may require you to trade multiple cards to obtain it. However, we will have enough cards for everyone!

Tell me about rare cards.
Some cards will be much harder to obtain. Several entry cards will be limited in the initial loot and is purely a game of chance. Activity cards are generally stronger and rarer than others. These cards will have better stats and will be marked with a silver or gold medal.

Can I obtain multiples of the same card?
In certain situations, yes. You will have multiples of Entry cards but to obtain multiple Activity cards, it will require you to trade with other attendees. You can only obtain the card once through the actual 'quest'. We will mark your program so we know you have already obtained the card.

Do you have a list of your cards?
We're slowly revealing the characters that were suggested by the community forums users. These cards will be revealed through our social networks and on this master thread. We have characters from every major Final Fantasy game.

Who made the art for the cards?
The very talented Wave-chan was hired to produce the art for our exclusive set and we are extremely thankful for her efforts. The cards were then created by our in-house design team.

Tell me about the tournament.
The tournament will take place during the final hours of KupoCon. This will allow you the time to collect as many of the cards as you can. The tournament will be known as TriPom. You will need to pre-register for the tournament before Noon on the day of the event. Your name will be put in a hat and drawn at random to decide your rival. Depending on the number of entrants, it will be single matches or 'best of 3'. The winner of the tournament will receive a complete deck including premium cards, games console and a Final Fantasy title. You can tale part in friendly games from the onset of the event.

Please note: These cards will be an event exclusive and will not be made available after the event.
